MEET CONTRACTOR/BREEDER Guy French

Meet Guy French who operates GF Buckers.  GF Buckers started in 2005. After riding bareback horses, I missed the game but was not good enough to keep riding. So, I started buying horses here and there. I purchased my first set of horses from Charlie Thompson of C-T Rodeo. Today I have refined my breeding to a select set of 16 mares.

My favorite stud would have to be G65 Grated Coconut. His colts tend to be very rider friendly with lots of intelligence. They tend to make great bareback horses and that is my main focus.

My favorite mare would have to be 919 Miss Cowtown. She is a Donnie Pederson mare that is out of a full brother to Coyote. She bucks every time and is a top producer. She came from Clark Jackson and is the dam to P1 Hometown Girl, R23 Cowboy Cowtown, and 219 Cowtown Renegade ( winner of the yearling class at last years Big Time Bucking Horse Futurity).

I hope to improve my program each year! I work with several other breeders and share bloodlines to better my herd. Times have changed and the idea of hoarding one bloodline is proving to be a mistake. I purchased a new stud this year, 288 Midnight Kid and he is proving to be an amazing producer. He is the sire to 126 Wazzup, last years Big Time Bucking Horse Futurity 2 year old Champion and High Marked Dummy Colt.

The Big Time Bucking Horse Futurity is my favorite event of the year. Kiowa has a great small town atmosphere and everyone is so nice. Since it is centrally located, it gives breeders from the north and south to come together and measure our programs against one another. It is also a nice break from the Texas heat!
